Category – Flow Meters
SUP-LUGB Series Vortex Flow Meters
Accurate measurement for steam, gas, and liquid flow applications
- Versatility: Ideal for steam and compressed gas systems at high velocities
- Accuracy: Precise monitoring with an accuracy of 1.0% to 1.5%
- Measuring range: Turndown ratio of 1:8 to handle fluctuating process flows
Measuring Principle
A fluid flowing at a certain velocity and passing a fixed obstacle forms vortices. The formation of vortices is called Karman vortices. The frequency of vortex shedding is a direct linear function of the fluid velocity, and the frequency depends on the shape and frontal width of the bluff body. Since the width of the obstacle and the pipe’s internal diameter will be more or less constant, the frequency is given by the expression:
f=(St*V)/c*D
Primary Applications
- Steam measurement: Monitoring of saturated and superheated steam in power plants and heating systems.
- Gas distribution: Measurement of compressed air, nitrogen, and other industrial gases.
- Chemical processing: Handling of low-viscosity chemicals requiring high-precision linear output.
- Water treatment: Effective for monitoring clean water in high-velocity pipelines.
Vortex Flow Meter Without Temperature and Pressure Compensation
- Operating principle: SUP-LUGB Vortex flow meter operates on the principle of generated vortex and the relationship between vortex and flow according to the theory of Karman and Strouhal.
- Specialization: Developed for measurement of steam, gas, and liquids with lower viscosity.
- Size range: DN15 – DN300
- Accuracy: 1.0% to 1.5%
- Turndown ratio: 1:8
