NS 1717 Backflow Preventers

Reliable protection against contamination of drinking water in pumping stations and laboratories

  • Valve categories: 2, 3 and 4
  • Broken water mirror, category 5
  • Applications: Pumping stations, livestock farming and outdoor areas
  • Norditec offers broken water mirror, category 5, up to a capacity of 80 m³/h – 6 bar.

NS 1717 Protection Against Contamination

NS 1717 establishes general requirements for equipment to prevent contamination of drinking water by backflow. In certain cases, contaminated water or other liquids can flow from a tap back into the building’s internal piping system or out into the public water supply network.

The subscriber’s water tap must be secured so that water or other liquids cannot flow back, either to the property’s internal piping system or to the water utility’s piping system.

Key Applications

Our backflow prevention systems are specifically designed for locations where the risk of biological or chemical contamination is greatest:

  • Pumping stations: protects the municipal water supply against backflow from the infrastructure.
  • Livestock farming and agriculture: prevents animal waste or cleaning chemicals from entering the water supply.
  • Chemical and biological laboratories: complete isolation of research fluids from drinking water.
  • Outdoor areas: protection of general water outlet points outdoors.

Maximum Safety for High-Risk Applications

Norditec offers category 5 solutions with broken water mirror, designed for the most demanding safety environments. While standard valves cover categories 2, 3 and 4, Broken Water Mirror Cat. 5 ensures a physical air gap (broken water mirror) to guarantee absolute isolation.
Performance: Our systems can handle capacities up to 80 m³/h at a working pressure of 6 bar, making them ideal for large-scale agricultural and industrial needs.
